Veer Madho Singh Bhandari was an legendary 17th-century Garhwali warrior and engineering visionary who built the miraculous Maletha irrigation canal by carving through solid mountain stone. The university proudly honours his engineering grit and indomitable courage.
Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, was established on 27 January 2005 by the Government of Uttarakhand under the Uttarakhand Technical University Act, 2005 (Act No. 415/2005). The University campus is situated at NH-72, Suddhowala, Dehradun. The university was subsequently renamed as Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University to pay homage to the state’s historic icon.
